Refunds for payments made towards courses, programs, and other items on the MITx Online platform are eligible for a refund during the Refund Eligibility Period. Refunds may also be available under certain other circumstances. The refund process is subject to the MITx Online Terms and Conditions.
Refund Eligibility Period
Payments submitted for courses or programs on the MITx Online platform are eligible for refund until 14 days after payment or 14 days after the start of the course session for which payment was made—whichever is later. The Refund Eligibility Period cannot exceed 170 days after the date of payment in any case.
Additionally, once you complete a course—whether or not you earn its Course Certificate—the payment made for that course becomes ineligible for refund.
How to Request a Refund

If your course or program payment falls within the Refund Eligibility Period, follow the steps below to request a refund.
Outside the Refund Eligibility Period
If your payment does not fall within the Refund Eligibility Period, or if you are not sure whether it does, please reach out to Support first, before unenrolling! See below for details
Unenrollment Instructions

Unenroll from the course: Use your MITx Online Dashboard's Unenroll action (see here for details)

Submit a Support Ticket: In your message, clearly state that you are requesting a refund, and list the specific name of the course or program. Click here to submit a ticket (or send an email to mitxonline-support@mit.edu, if needed)
Important Notes:
- Refund Destination: Refunds will be credited to the original payment method used for the purchase
- Processing time: It may take up to two billing cycles for a refund to be processed and the funds to appear in your account
