MITx Online accepts payments made with credit or debit cards that have a Visa, MasterCard, Discover, or American Express logo, as well as PayPal payments.
There are several common reasons for failed payments:
-
Declined by the issuing bank: Most payment failures occur when the transaction is not approved by your bank. If you receive a payment failed message, we recommend contacting your credit card provider for more information.
-
Mismatched address or verification number: If you see a payment pending on your credit or debit card account, it could be due to the payment processor rejecting it based on anti-fraud measures like address or card verification checks. This can happen if the billing address you entered doesn't match the address registered with your card company or if the CVV or CVN (3 or 4-digit card verification number) you entered doesn't match the card information on file.
In such cases, the payments remain in a pending state and are not received by MITx Online. The funds will automatically be returned to your account within a few days. You can double-check your information and attempt the payment again.
-
PayPal: If you encounter a receipt error while using PayPal, it is likely due to an issue with your PayPal funding source. We recommend contacting PayPal support for further assistance.
