Originally, the program had a primary focus on development policies and issues prevalent in areas marked by substantial and persistent poverty. However, over time, the program has grown in both depth and scope, incorporating courses that address public policies, particularly those in the United States and other high-income countries. To accurately represent the program's broader curriculum, the name was changed from "Development Policy" to "Design of Policy." This new name reflects the program's expanded content and its inclusion of diverse policy domains.
