It depends. If you take a DEDP MicroMasters course on the Audit (free) track first, you can re-enroll in a future course session, submit payment to upgrade, and take its Proctored Exam to earn the Course Certificate. However, you should understand a number of important details before pursuing this path. For a full description of this process, see the FAQ article Can I enroll in DEDP courses now but submit payment later?
However, this doesn't mean that you can enroll in a DEDP MicroMasters course on the Verified/Certificate (Paid) track and then choose to take the Proctored Exam in a later session. While learners may enroll in courses as many times as they wish, payment for DEDP MicroMasters courses is tied to the course session for which it is submitted.
When you submit payment to upgrade your enrollment in a DEDP MicroMasters course, you become eligible to sit for the Proctored Exam at the end of that specific term only. You should be sure that you intend to sit for the Proctored Exam in a session before submitting payment. However, exceptions can be made in extenuating circumstances, at the discretion of the DEDP Team.
