Learners are allowed to retake DEDP MicroMasters courses as many times as they wish to achieve their target score. You might retake a course in order to attempt its Proctored Exam for the first time (if you took it on the Audit (free) track first), or to re-take a Proctored Exam you previously failed, or simply to achieve a higher Total Course Score.
Learners re-taking a DEDP MicroMasters course may also combine their best Coursework Score and Proctored Exam Score to achieve the highest possible Total Course Score. If you're already comfortable with the Coursework Score or the Proctored Exam Score that you achieved in a past course session, then you can request to have one of those scores transferred to the current session of the course when you retake it. You must explicitly request a Score Transfer by following these instructions—the process is not automatic.
- Learners who are already happy with the highest Coursework Score they've achieved so far can transfer it and spend the current course session preparing for the Proctored Final Exam.
- Learners who are already happy with the highest Proctored Exam Score they've achieved so far can transfer it and spend the course session re-doing the Coursework Assignments for a higher Coursework Score.
Course Score Terms
- Your Coursework Score for a course session comprises the scores earned for all Coursework, including Homework Assignments, Lecture Finger Exercises, any Mid-Term Exams, and the Comprehensive Review.
- Your Proctored Exam Score for a course session comprises only the course score you achieved for the Proctored Final Exam
How to Request a Score Transfer
Requirements and Instructions
To Request a Score Transfer for a DEDP MicroMasters Course, you must be enrolled in the currently running session of the course. We very strongly recommend that all learners enroll in course sessions early—before their scheduled Start Date. You must then wait for the Course Team to accept Score Transfer Requests. The Course Team will announce via email when they are ready to accept Requests, and will provide links and instructions.
To transfer an existing Coursework Score into the current session and take the Proctored Exam:
Notes:
- You must be enrolled in the current course session on the Verified/Certificate (Paid) track
- You must wait until the end of the course session to take the Proctored Exam—it cannot be taken early
Steps:
- Because you will transfer your Coursework Score, you are not required to complete any Coursework Assignments. However, you are welcome to complete any Coursework you wish to—for example to help prepare for the Proctored Exam
- We recommend that you use the duration of the course session to study and review the course material in preparation for the Proctored Exam
- When Score Transfer Requests become available, complete the request form—as described below
- Complete the Onboarding Process and take the Proctored Final Exam during its Testing Period at the end of the session
To transfer an existing Proctored Exam Score to the current session and re-do the Coursework:
Notes:
- You do not need to be enrolled on the Verified/Certificate (Paid) track
- You do not need to take the Proctored Final Exam at the end of the course session
Steps:
- Because you will transfer your Proctored Exam Score, as soon as the course session starts, you must begin completing the Coursework—regardless of whether you have completed this course's Coursework in the past
- When Score Transfer Requests become available, complete the request form—as described below
- Continue completing the Coursework to achieve the best scores possible!
How To Request a Score Transfer
Around the time that Onboarding becomes available—typically a few weeks after the start of the course the Course Team will announce the availability of Score Transfer Requests, via email, to all learners enrolled in the course session. The email will contain instructions and a link to the Score Transfer Request Form.
Carefully follow the instructions to fill out and submit the Score Transfer Request form, to ensure the DEDP Team will complete your Score Transfer during Grading at the end of the course session.
Important Notes
- Scores will not be transferred until the end of the course session, typically only when Final Course Scores have been released
- When submitting your Score Transfer Request Form, there is no confirmation message to indicate that you have successfully submitted your Request
