Once you have successfully completed an MITx Online course session on the Verified/Certificate (Paid) enrollment track with a passing Course Score, you will earn a Course Certificate. Once you have earned the Course Certificate for all of an MITx Online Program's required courses, you will also earn a Program Certificate.

Program Certificate Timeline
Program Certificates, including MITx MicroMasters Program Credentials, generally become available immediately after a learner receives the last Course Certificate needed to complete the program.
Course Certificate Timeline
Unlike Program Certificates, the availability timeline for Course Certificates depends on the format of the course completed.
Instructor-Paced Courses
For Instructor-Paced Courses, Course Certificates are generated and released to all eligible learners on or after the Course End Date. The exact timeline may differ between courses, from a few days to a few weeks or more. Courses which include a Proctored Exam—including MITx MicroMasters Program courses—often require significant post-processing.
Learners in these courses should expect to receive communications from their Course Team about when to expect Course Certificates will be released.
Self-Paced Courses
Most Self-Paced Courses generate and release Course Certificates to each learner individually—shortly after they achieve a Course Score. It typically takes around 24-48 hours for the Course Team to complete any necessary review and for the system to generate a Certificate—though it can sometimes take longer.
Self-Paced courses whose Coursework includes peer assessment may require more time to process Course Certificates.
Some Self-Paced Courses instead choose to generate and release Course Certificates altogether, at the end of the course session—like an Instructor-Paced course.
Details about how your Self-Paced Course will release Course Certificates should be contained within the Courseware. Inquiring learners are encouraged to post their questions to the In-Course Discussion Forum for the Course Team.
