It depends:
- If you mean "Can I enroll in and submit payment for a DEDP MicroMasters course before it starts?" then yes!
- If you mean "Can I enroll in and submit payment for a DEDP MicroMasters course, but later decide I want to participate in a different course session, in the future?" then maybe.
It is not necessary to wait until a course session starts to enroll or submit payment. Learners are welcome (and encouraged) to enroll in and submit payment to upgrade upcoming DEDP MicroMasters course sessions as early as possible—before the start date of the course—to help ensure they are fully prepared when the course starts.
However, payment for DEDP MicroMasters courses is tied to the course session for which it is submitted. When you submit payment to upgrade your enrollment in a DEDP MicroMasters course, you become eligible to sit for the Proctored Exam at the end of that specific term only. You should be sure that you intend to sit for the Proctored Exam in a session before submitting payment.
The MITx Online Refund Policy generally allows you to request a refund within 14 days of the Course Start Date or the date of payment (whichever is later), so depending on when you realize you want to take the course in a future session, you may be able to simply request a refund. Alternatively, it may be possible to defer your Paid enrollment to a future course session, depending on the circumstances.
Regardless, exceptions can be made for extenuating circumstances, at the discretion of the DEDP Team.
